Cherokee Area Council

The Cherokee Area Council, Boy Scouts of America has been chartered since 1914 to serve the youth, families, and communities of Hamilton, Marion, Bradley, Rhea, Grundy, Sequatchie, Bledsoe and Polk counties in Tennessee and Walker, Catoosa and Dade counties in Georgia.

Scouting's Impact in 2008

  • 6,461 registered youth members served
  • 2,010 registered adult volunteers
  • 21% of Scouts are in a low-income family
  • Over 115,000 service hours were performed by volunteer leaders and youth
  • 81 young men achieved the rank of Eagle Scout - totalling more than 3,350 volunteer service hours to a community organization
  • 2,212 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts achieved one or more rank advancements
  • 3,408 Boy Scout Merit Badges earned
  • 1,170 Boy Scouts participated in week-long summer camps at Skymont Scout Reservation
  • 2,856 Cub Scouts and their family members participated in a day, twilight, Webelos resident, or Cub family camp
  • Parents spend an average of 1-2 hours weekly with their son  in various aspects of the Scouting program.
